PFS Annual Meeting and November Monthly Concert with Tom Chapin

Current Philadelphia Folksong Society members are invited to join us at 5:30pm (doors at 4:30) on Sunday, November 20th at the Ardmore Music Hall for the Philadelphia Folksong Society's Annual Meeting. Following the meeting will be the Society's November Monthly Concert with folk legend Tom Chapin! Concert begins at 7pm (doors at 6:30 for nonmembers)!

At the PFS Annual Meeting, the Society will announce the results of its 2016 Board Elections. Ballots will be available at the Ardmore Music Hall for submission between 4:30 - 5:30pm. Ballot submissions will stop promptly at 5:30pm. There are 5 available seats for this year’s election.  The organization's Governance Committee has submitted a nomination slate to the Board consisting of Eric Eckstein, Richard Kardon, Joyce Moore, Katherine Rondeau, and Peter Schechner. Additionally, Dave Schena has completed the write-in ballot and will be included.  Information on candidates can found by clicking here and logging in to the PFS Member Area, and will be available at the election.

TOM CHAPIN 
Spanning five decades, 23 albums and three Grammys, Tom Chapin is a highly respected contemporary folk artist and pioneer in children's music. He has established a reputation for insightful, heartfelt song craft and charismatic live performances. He began performing in 1960s Greenwich Village folk clubs with siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers. Tom has also worked in film, TV and radio and has acted on Broadway playing the lead in the hit musical Pump Boys And Dinettes. Chapin is an advocate of many charitable causes including WhyHunger, founded by Harry Chapin.

Opening for Tom will be SKIP DENENBERG
As a film and television composer, Skip Denenberg has scored programs and promos ranging from Sesame Street to Olympic reels, and was a contributing writer for this years 2012 Grammy winning Best Childrens Album, along with being nominated for 7 Mid-Atlantic Emmys in the last decade. He has shared stages with such artists as Willie Nelson, Donovan, Richie Havens, Steve Earle, Dar Williams, Al Kooper, Steve Forbert, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ron Sexsmith, Warren Zevon, the Saw Doctors, the Neville Brothers, and many others. He is the songwriter for the Philadelphia Phillies, and regularly heard on WYSP’s Sports Radio’s Morning show with Angelo Cataldi.
