The Yard's Philosophy: Here at Yards, our commitment to fine handcrafted ales is rivaled only by our dedication to serving the communities we call home. In 2013 alone, we contributed over $20,000 and donated over 2,000 cases of beer to such charitable organizations as the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society and The Food Trust. Together, the total value of our charitable contributions in 2013 exceeded $95,000. Our beer donations alone could fill two tractor-trailers! Notably, we've raised over $18,000 from sales of our fall seasonal, PYNK, to benefit the Tyanna Foundation, our breast cancer charity partner.

Monetary and product contributions aren’t the only way we give back. Sustainability plays a major role in the day-to-day operations at Yards. We’re Pennsylvania’s first 100% wind-powered brewery and our cardboard packaging is certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Additionally, our brewhouse collects and reuses 2 million gallons of water per year. We're proud to be longstanding members of the Sustainable Business Network, and we were recently honored at the Non-profit Professionals Summit for our extensive work with the non-profit sector.

But we can’t do all this good without the hard work of our staff and the support of our local business partners. Not only are over ¾ of our employees proud Philadelphia residents, the majority of our vendors and wholesale accounts are located within a 100-mile radius of the city. So when someone raises a pint of Yards, they are bolstering their local economy and ensuring that its businesses continue to thrive.
