ABOUT ABOUT

Current voting-class members are invited to join us at 12:00pm on October 19 at the Ardmore Music Hall for the Annual Board of Directors Election.  At the March 19, 2014 BoD meeting, the Board resolved to maintain the existing 11-member Board, leaving 3 available seats for this year’s election.  The organization's Governance Committee has submitted a nomination slate to the Board consisting of John Fuhr, Matt McGuire, Phil McLaughlin, and Dennis O’Brien.  Additionally, Dan Bencsik has been nominated from the floor.  Information on candidates can found by logging in to the PFS Member Area and will be available at the election.  Click here to read a letter from the Governance Committee regarding the election.

Spuyten Duyvil's brand of original and traditional American Roots music blends Olde Time, Blues, 2nd Line, Bluegrass, and Folk Rock with a pinch of Punk Rock energy to create a uniquely modern mix. Lead by song-writing couple, Mark Miller and Beth Kaufman, this seven piece powerhouse brings barn burning energy to venues throughout the Northeast.

It’s an exciting time for the Hudson Valley based band. Their CD, “Temptation”, released October 2013, made it to #7 on the Folk DJ Chart in it's first full month out.  "I'll Fly Away" grabbed the #2 spot.  "Temptation" also made it to the top #20 on the Roots Music Report and into the top #30 on the Roots 66 Airplay Chart. Their 2011 release "New Amsterdam" landed on a dozen DJ Top 10 lists and received a nomination for the Alternate Root TV's "2011 Top American Roots Album".

"To me they are the hottest new band in folk music ... and one of the best" - Legendary DJ Gene Shay ~ Philadelphia Folk Festival

"Spuyten Duyvil's songs draw on the roots of American music and history, but in the hands of eight superb performers they crackle with energy that's both contemporary and downright irresistible." - John Platt, WFUV

Tin Bird Choir is a barn rock band from Chester County Pennsylvania. They write songs that are rooted in the rural world they grew up in, yet still pulse with urgency. Two songs off their latest album Homesteadywere picked up by Starbucks and are played in their stores worldwide. Another song, “Cheaper, Less Painful,” earned the band a spot as one of the regional finalists in the Mountain Stage Newsong Contest. With lyrical integrity and driving melodies, Tin Bird Choir is fun, often quirky, and even a little haunting. Learn more about them at tinbirdchoir.com.
