Ben Hughes

A 26 year-old with a bachelor's degree worth of debt and a series of unrelated day jobs to pay it back, Hughes is a poster boy for the bursted-bubble millennial generation. He sings about being part of a downtrodden blue-collar work force, helping loved ones through hard times, and clinging desperately to his musician dreams which ebb to the margins of his days. After compiling at least 12 albums worth of solo material recorded from 2005 through 2012, he has decided to finally release the tracks. Hughes has been releasing an album every month for 2015.

Members Exclusive Workshop before the concert: Prior to the performance, Ben will be speaking about his songwriting and the creative process over the course of the last year. This workshop is exlcusive for members and great opportunity for anyone who writes music or just wants to know more about Ben's amazing project.

Cynthia G. Mason:

Cynthia G. Mason’s haunting voice and delicate guitar work create a mood not unlike that of her hometown Philadelphia itself— a mix of melancholy and hope. Philebrity called her music's edgy darkness "like a hypnotic sesh watching old Super 8 movies of people you don’t know." Time Out New York wrote that "her graceful, understated songs frequently awed clubs full of noisy chatterers into silence." In June 2015, Cynthia released Cinematic Turn.  Magnet Magazine wrote that the new album “is aptly titled,” that the “music is as vivid, evocative and narratively compelling as a film.”

Roof Doctor:

Roof Doctor, formerly the solo project of guitarist Mark Harper, has grown immensely in the time that they have been making collaborative music together. What started as a quiet acoustic outlet for Harper has blossomed into a remarkably eclectic ensemble featuring Kevin Paschall on drums, Chet Williams on bass, keys, and saxophone, and Alex Stackhouse on guitar. The players' varied musical backgrounds and the other projects in which they are involved serves to create a wildly frenetic energy within the backdrop for Harper's often somber croon. It is this dichotomy of lyrical despair washed away in a sea of joyful melodies, jazzy rhythms, and uplifting harmony that has come to characterize Roof Doctor. Roof Doctor has been described as "refreshingly hopeful and honest in a way that a lot of albums nowadays are not." The narrator's own mantras float in occasionally, as if to remind himself that things aren't as bad as they seem.
